Seat Guru
Make sure you get the best seat you can when checking in for your flights. Shows the seat layout for each airline and model of aircraft with advice on the best and worst seats.

Lonely Planet
The bible of independent budget travel. But don't limit your reading and research to just Lonely Planet. An excellent starting point for pre-trip research.
